Fresno businessman Krikor "Kirk" Vartanian remained in Fresno County Jail this morning in lieu of $421,000 bail after he was booked on suspicion of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.

Vartanian, 40, also is being held on a warrant for theft out of Clark County, Nev. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Saturday the Nevada warrant had to do with a casino and a substantial amount of money. Officials at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not return calls Sunday seeking details about the warrant.

Police arrested Vartanian Friday after a woman accused him of threatening her with a knife and trying to suffocate her with a pillow. Vartanian has been in the spotlight recently for his efforts to rescue the troubled Granite Park development in east-central Fresno.
