It all started with a treacherous trip down a passageway filled with spiders, poisonous darts and a giant rolling stone. It turned into one of Hollywood's most successful film franchises.

That first adventure by the whip-snapping archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) in the 1981 movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" would lead to film sequels, a television series, a line of books, merchandising and even a theme-park ride.

Why? Oh, a little thing like the first three movies alone took in $586 million at the box office in the United States. That number leaps to $1.2 billion when you add international box-office receipts.

It looked like Indiana Jones had hung up his famous fedora after the 1989 release of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." It has been almost two decades, but Indy is back in action. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" opens Thursday.

It was easier to get details out of King Tut's tomb than to find information on the new movie. The only clues to the mystery are that Karen Allen reprises her role of Marion Ravenwood from the first film and Shia LaBeouf is Indy's youthful sidekick. You will have to see the film to discover all of the movie's real secrets.

Because it has been so long between films, it won't hurt to brush up on your Indiana Jones knowledge. The quest for answers often comes with a price. As you take the following quiz, award yourself one gold skull for each right answer and one snake ("Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?") for each miss.

Get cracking.
