A man was killed Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a freight train near the intersection of Maroa and Princeton avenues in central Fresno, police said.
Lt. Joe Gomez of the Fresno Police Department said that police are treating the accident as a suicide based on statements from the train's conductor. No additional details about the man or his identity were immediately available.
Maroa and Princeton were closed briefly during the investigation. Gomez said the streets later reopened.
