Women's golf: Fresno State signs Canadian standout

Samantha Spencer of Canada -- the Most Valuable Contributor at Christ the King Secondary School in Georgetown, Ontario, last season -- has signed a letter of intent with the Fresno State women's golf team.

Sepncer was ranked 76th in North America in Golfweek/Sagarin's Top 100 list of junior girls for the Class of 2014 when she originally committed to North Carolina State in November.

She placed 33rd at the Women's Porter Cup after shooting 74-75-79--228 during the tournament for collegians and amateurs on June 11-13 in Lewiston, N.Y. Spencer also was a member of Team Ontario for the 2013 Canada Summer Games.
