Annual apple picking to be held at Yosemite

The Fresno BeeJuly 16, 2014

Yosemite National Park will hold its 16th annual apple picking July 30 in Yosemite Valley.

The event is part of a program implemented by the park to reduce the number of encounters between people and black bears by removing non-native food sources from Yosemite Valley.

Park visitors and volunteers are asked to help collect apples from trees in the Curry Village orchard. Park staff will be on hand to answer questions.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Curry Village Apple Orchard.
