Gift upgrades Community Regional Medical Center surgical rooms

Community Regional Medical Center has upgraded surgical rooms with the help of a $300,000 cash gift from Quiring General, a Fresno company that specializes in construction of healthcare institutions.

The Quiring gift allowed Community Regional to make several improvements to 11 operating rooms, the hospital said Tuesday.

The rooms have new lighting, equipment booms with electrical outlets to keep cords out of the way and off the floor, surgical vacuums that attach to the ceiling and can rotate around the surgical bed, and new electrical wiring for more power, the hospital said.

Quiring General was started in 1947 by Ben Quiring and now is led by sons Paul and Greg Quiring.

The company and the hospital have been longtime partners, the hospital said. The company has completed several construction projects at the hospital, including the first hybrid operating room/angiography suite -- a room that makes it possible to do catheterization lab and open surgical procedures in one room.
