The Kings County Sheriff's Office found the suspect for a December murder in Armona already in the county jail.
James Latrell Young, 24, was in Kings County Jail on unrelated charges and was recently sentenced to state prison for marijuana sales, the sheriff's office said.
He was arrested on suspicion of murdering Jorge Arambula Dec. 8.
Deputies found Arambula dead from a gunshot wound in a vehicle parked on Locust Street, the sheriff's office said.
Over the last few months, sheriff's detectives worked with the Kings County Gang Task Force, detectives from Hanford Police Department and investigators from the Kings County District Attorney's office collecting evidence and conducting interviews that led to Young's arrest.
Detectives believe that the weapon used to murder Arambula was then used during a recent Lemoore home invasion robbery, the sheriff's office said.
Investigators are looking at others who may have assisted Young in hiding the murder, the sheriff's office said.
