A man was beaten unconscious by several men, robbed and then dragged by his feet into a southeast Fresno apartment early Friday, Fresno police said.

While patrolling, police officer Daniel Laband learned of the assault around 1:45 a.m. from a frantic woman on East Lane Avenue near its intersection with Chestnut Avenue.

Searching the apartment, the victim was found lying unconscious on the floor of suspect Jonathan Herrera's bedroom.

The wounded man, who was not identified, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for injuries that weren't life-threatening, police said.

One of the suspects was found to be in possession of the stolen property.

Police said four Fresno gang members were arrested on suspicion of robbery, felony battery and assault with a deadly weapon. The arrested are: Herrera, 22; Steven Flores, 21; Christopher Flores, 24; and a 15-year-old who was not named.

Police Sgt. Brian Valles said "a case like this expresses the importance of reporting both criminal and suspicious activity to the police. When criminal activity is observed, remember to call 911, (559) 621-7000, or Crime stoppers at (559) 498-STOP."
