Convocation inspires

July 11, 2014

On July 10, a reader questioned funding for Convocation 2014. Convocation is the one time during the year that we have all 10,000 Fresno Unified employees together in one place. The energy and inspiration I see on that morning are truly amazing. It is our opportunity to unite in preparation for the coming school year and reinforce our mission to support, nurture, encourage and educate the lives entrusted to us. We leave solid in the knowledge that we are investing in the future of Fresno by creating college- and career-ready graduates.

Yes, there is a cost to the day, but most of that cost is supported by gracious community sponsors. They share our commitment to the future of Fresno, and see their support as an investment in the community where they live, work and do business.

When our teachers and staff leave Convocation 2014, they will be energized and inspired, ready to go out and focus on our most important investment, the students of Fresno Unified.
