4-year-old boy drowns in Farmersville

A 4-year-old boy who drowned in Farmersville has been identified as Michael Montoya, police said Friday.

About 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Farmersville police went to a home in the 300 block of East Front Street and found the boy being carried to the front of the property by his mother, Sinead Johnstone.

The boy was unresponsive and officers began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said three children ages 4 to 6 were playing in a large inflatable backyard pool, and adults at the house were checking on the children.

The case remains under investigation.
