The "boil water notice" was lifted Thursday for residents of Parkwood, an unincorporated community outside of Madera.
The well supplying water to 600 homes and businesses failed Monday and was shut off for seven hours on Tuesday. During this time, the well was dug 60 feet deeper.
Water samples were sent for testing Wednesday as a state-mandated procedure whenever water flow is restored after any kind of disruption. Bottled water was distributed to residents by the county and by Home Depot volunteers.
Construction begins Friday to tie Parkwood into Madera city water lines as a temporary 10-month fix, according to Johannes Hoevertsz, Madera County public works director. He estimated the project will take a week to complete.
