Rawhide Report for 7/8: High Desert 3, Visalia 1

The Fresno BeeJuly 8, 2014

Wasted efforts: Visalia pitchers Braden Shipley, Joey Krehbiel and Enrique Burgos combined to allow seven hits, but they got too little support in the Rawhide's 3-1 Cal League loss Tuesday to High Desert. Shipley (1-4) struck out eight in 61/3 innings.

One and done: Socrates Brito hit a solo home run, his seventh of the season, to lead off the bottom of the first inning for Visalia's only run.

Up next: The series continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rawhide Ballpark. Visalia's starter was not available. High Desert was to send out RH David Holman (1-1, 4.26 ERA), who has moved into a starting role in his past two games after 11 outings in relief. As a starter, he's allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits and four walks in nine innings.
