Police investigate central Fresno shooting

Police are investigating a shooting Monday night in central Fresno that left a man in critical condition.

The shooting occurred about 8:20 a.m. in the 3400 block of East Shields Avenue, near Golden Living Center.

Police Lt. Phil Cooley said a man in his 30s was walking down Shields Avenue when he was shot. He then ran into the breezeway of the convalescent hospital, where he collapsed.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and reported to be in critical condition.

Fresno police are asking for the public's help in identifying any suspects or providing information by calling (559) 498-STOP.
