A Fresno man was arrested Friday after pointing a gun at other motorists and then crashing his car on Highway 180, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office reported Monday.
George Raymond Hill, 23, allegedly pulled up to another vehicle in a silver BMW on westbound Highway 180 near Academy Avenue and pointed a gun at the other car's occupants. The occupants said he then sped away, driving erratically, said sheriff's spokesman Deputy Chris Curtice.
Curtice said a deputy noticed the silver BMW speeding close to 100 mph near Highway 180 and DeWolf Avenue and gave chase. The BMW took the Temperance Avenue off-ramp, lost control and crashed.
Hill was identified as the person who pointed the gun at motorists. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for the injuries suffered from the crash.
He was later booked into Fresno County Jail on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, being a felon in possession of a gun, committing a felony while armed, DUI and probation violations, Curtice said. Hill had a passenger who wasn't arrested, Curtice said, but there was no word on his condition.
Deputies found the gun at the crash site the next day.
