A Kerman man was arrested on charges of assaulting a Fresno County Sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop Friday night in Kerman, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office reported.

Spokesman Chris Curtice said that Jorge Logo Solorio, 21, was pulled over for allegedly speeding near Highway 180 and Del Norte Avenue. After Solorio was ordered out of the car he allegedly became aggressive and attacked the deputy. The deputy was able to hold Solorio on the ground until he received help from Kerman police officers.

Solorio received a facial cut during the fight and was treated at Community Regional Medical Center before he was booked on charges of battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and several other charges.

The deputy was treated for abrasions to his shoulder and other injuries.
