Fresno County deputies search for highway-robber motorcyclists

Two motorcyclists who robbed a driver early on the Fourth of July are sought by Fresno County Sheriff's deputies.

The incident started just before 4 a.m., sheriff's spokesman Chris Curtice said. The driver was leaving work at a west Fresno County dairy; when he stopped at the intersection of Dickenson Avenue and Highway 180 east of Kerman, he spotted the riders on sports bikes. The driver turned onto 180 toward Fresno and noticed that the bikers were following him. A short time later, one pulled in front of him and hit his brakes hard, blocking his car from moving forward as the second stopped behind him. The bikers then pulled the driver from his car, kicked and punched him, took cash from his wallet and fled west toward Kerman.

One of the suspects was riding a light blue motorcycle and the other was on a red motorcycle with a loud exhaust. Both wore full-face helmets.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
