Save the eagles

FresnoJuly 6, 2014

The June 27 article by Scott Smith reports that a California wind farm 60 miles east of San Francisco has been given a special permit by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. They are allowed to kill up to five eagles within a five-year year period. Agency Director Daniel Ashe says, "We can't solve the problem of eagle mortality at wind farms overnight."

How about the other thousands of birds these wind turbines chop up every day? Would Mr. Ashe give a permit to an oil rig in Taft if it killed an eagle? Our government would shut it down and fine the owners big time. Where is PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and the animal rights crowd on this?
