9 arrested at Valley DUI checkpoints

Nine people were arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence at checkpoints in Fresno and Visalia.

Fresno police arrested seven people during a DUI checkpoint in northeast Fresno late Saturday night.

The checkpoint was held in the southbound lanes of Cedar Avenue at Bullard Avenue. In addition, police impounded 17 vehicles because drivers were arrested or were not licensed to drive.

In Visalia, a checkpoint at Ben Maddox Way and Goshen Avenue resulted in the arrest of two people and 26 citations for unlicensed driving, police said. Six vehicles were towed.
