Stop smoking in casinos

FresnoJuly 5, 2014

I enjoy the sounds of slot machines and the rattling jingle of coins falling. I enjoy the bountiful buffet selection a casino has to offer, but what I do not enjoy is the smell of cigarette smoke the second I walk in through those doors. It hits me like a ton of bricks!

Every time I see the commercial for Table Mountain, I can't help but notice the nice, clean and fun ambience in a seemingly smoke-free environment. But what they don't show is the smoke that is visible throughout the casino once you step inside.

Every year an estimated 34,000 deaths occur among adult nonsmokers. The surgeon general has reported there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke! Nationally, eight out of 10 adults do not even smoke and the majority of casino customers do not smoke.

Everyone has the right to breathe clean air and not be exposed to the thousands of toxic chemicals found in cigarettes. Table Mountain has the unique opportunity to protect those individuals working in and visiting the casino. Please make this casino smokefree. It's good for business and great for our health!
