Year later still searching

July 4, 2014

As I sit at home listening to the loud booms of illegal fireworks, I can't but help think of my precious dog McGregor. He has now been missing from our home for a year. It was June 25 that we discovered him missing from our backyard, the day after being spooked by the sounds of fireworks.

I write this letter to ask people who find stray dogs this Fourth of July weekend to please take them to an animal shelter or veterinarian to be scanned for a microchip.

We did all we could to find McGregor. He was microchipped and had our phone number on his collar. We posted fliers. I posted all over Facebook and Craigslist. We checked all the animal shelters every day for months. We continue to do so.

Our thought is that some very nice family has taken in McGregor, a friendly dog. He looks very much like the dog Doug in the Disney movie "Up." We fear that whoever has McGregor has never taken him to be scanned for a microchip. If you find a stray dog, have the dog scanned and he may be reunited with the family that loves him and misses him.
