Holiday DUI task force arrests 9 on first night

The Fresno BeeJuly 4, 2014

The AVOID multi-agency drunken-driving patrol arrested nine people for DUI during the first night of the Independence Day Weekend Anti-DUI Crackdown.

AVOID spokeswoman Alfreda Sebasto said officers representing 21 local law enforcement agencies made the arrests from 12:01 a.m. to midnight Thursday. Sebasto said that some agencies have yet to report in, so the number could grow.

Additional local law enforcement and California Highway Patrol will patrol the San Joaquin Valley this weekend. The AVOID checkpoints will continue in Fresno and Madera counties through Sunday.
