A 45-year-old Fresno man was shot to death Friday morning in central Fresno, and the Fresno Police Department was seeking tips on the whereabouts of the suspected killer.

Police say the man who was killed, Raymond Fisher, and 38-year-old Vance Sams got in an altercation about 9:20 a.m. that led to the shooting.

After Fisher was shot, near the intersection of Teilman Avenue and Saginaw Way at the northwest corner of Quigley Playground, he walked up Teilman a block before collapsing near Pontiac Way, police said. Fisher was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died about three hours after the shooting.

Sams was still on the loose late Friday. He's described by police as African-American, approximately 6 feet 3 inches and 270 to 300 pounds with brown eyes and hair. Sams has dreadlocks and is described as having a muscular build.

This is the 26th murder in Fresno this year, which is five more than this time last year. Anyone with information about a case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
