Downtown Fresno Partnership adding evening, weekend private security patrols

The Fresno BeeJuly 3, 2014

The Downtown Fresno Partnership is beefing up security in downtown Fresno with the hiring of private security guards.

Central California Private Security, a firm based in downtown, will augment services provided by the city's police and fire departments.

The security guards, working in the evenings and on weekends, will also be trained as downtown ambassadors, similar to the daytime ambassadors who carry dining guides and provide information to the public.

The service is paid for by the partnerships, a three-year-old organization funded by downtown businesses.
