Fresno police drop burglary, sex case after victim's story changes

The Fresno BeeJuly 2, 2014

Police have dropped an investigation into a robbery and attempted sexual assault originally reported last month in east-central Fresno after the alleged victim gave inconsistent statements to investigators.

On June 25, a woman told Fresno police that a man broke into her home in the 3200 block of North Ezie Avenue and threatened her with a knife. She claimed the man told her to take her clothes off before being frightened off by her dog.

Sgt. Jaime Rios said the alleged victim gave inconsistent statements to investigators. Those inconsistencies and new developments in the case led detectives to conclude that there isn't enough evidence to prove that a burglary or sexual assault occurred.
