Fresno State golfer Gudrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir will represent Iceland for a third time at the European Ladies Team Championship, beginning Tuesday in Slovenia.

The 20-team field also includes Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Wales.

"I am really excited to go to Slovenia and represent my home country in such a big tournament," said Björgvinsdóttir, who won a Mountain West Conference championship for the Bulldogs as a freshman this past season. "It is a great opportunity to see where you are at among the best players in Europe."

The first two days of the tournament are stroke play where the best five of six scores count. Each team then is divided into flights A, B and C according to their scores and the teams play match play against those in their given flight.

Björgvinsdóttir previously played in the 2011 and 2013 European Ladies Team Championship.

She tuned up over the weekend by competing in the Icelandic National Match Play Championships, finishing third.
