Police are investigating a shooting in southeast Fresno Wednesday night that left a man in critical condition.
The shooting occurred in the 3400 block of East Butler Avenue, just east of downtown Fresno.
Sgt. Mike Smith said a man, about 20 years old, was apparently shot in an alley between two homes and then collapsed on East Butler Avenue. He was reported in critical condition at Community Regional Medical Center.
There are currently no suspects or witnesses. The motive for the crime is unknown.
Police have blocked off a section of Butler Avenue between South Fourth and South Fifth streets while they search for a suspect.
Several neighbors said they saw a man run onto the sidewalk near Butler and lie down. They said the man was grabbing his chest and had blood on the back of his shirt.
