The body of a missing Farmersville woman has been found a car submerged in Friant-Kern Canal, the Farmersville Police Department said Wednesday.

Hermalinda Enriquez Lara was identified Tuesday by the Tulare County coroner's office. There were no obvious signs of foul play.

She was last seen about 8 a.m. June 24 at her home. She left her purse and cellular phone and drove away in a black 1995 Nissan Altima, police said.

About 2 p.m. Monday, canal tenders found the car during regular maintenance checks where Avenue 282 crosses the canal near Exeter.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Department's diving team pulled the car out of the water and found the woman's body inside.

The cause of death is pending toxicology reports, which could take several weeks.
