Fire damages garage at central Fresno house

The Fresno BeeJuly 1, 2014

Fresno firefighters are working to put out hotspots of a garage fire in central Fresno, fire officials said.

The fire started about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the garage of a home in the 2200 block of West Acacia Avenue, Fresno fire Battalion Chief Tony Escobedo said.

The occupants were able to get out of the home, but there was heavy fire coming from the garage and attic above when firefighters arrived, Escobedo said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and crews are still on scene.
