Raw Fresno wins Whole Foods grant

June 30, 2014

Raw Fresno is the winner of the Whole Foods Local Foodmaker Grant in Fresno and will get 5% of the store's sales Wednesday.

The grants are aimed at local producers who want to grow their business. The public voted online from a selection of finalists.

Raw Fresno sells raw food dishes — everything from a kale Caesar salad to brownie bites — at various farmers markets. Owner Naomi Hendrix is in the process of getting her raw food truck, dubbed "Minerva the RawMeister" on the road and will use the grant money toward that goal.

Hendrix will be doing demonstrations and giving away samples in the store on Wednesday.
