A Porterville bicyclist is in critical condition after colliding with a car, Porterville police said Monday.

The accident happened about 8:50 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Olive Avenue and the northbound on-ramp to Highway 65.

Glenn Meeks, 47, was riding his bicycle east on the north side of Olive against the flow of traffic, police said.

The driver, Donnie Dismuke, 42, was heading east on Olive in the left turn lane, intending to go north onto Highway 65. He turned left as the bicycle entered the intersection and they collided.

Meeks was non-responsive with head trauma and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, then to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. He is listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident, police said.
