Lakeport driver Derek Thorn wins Madera feature

Lakeport's Derek Thorn won the Spears Southwest Tour 51-Fifty Energy Drink 125 on Saturday night at Madera Speedway.

Thorn, the 2012 series champion, passed Manteca's Ross Strmiska for the lead on lap 74 in lapped traffic and held it to the finish, beating an 18-car field. First place was worth $3,000.

In the companion Lucas Oil Modifieds Protect the Harvest California Farmer's 75, Scott Winters got his first victory of the season over a 26-car field. The race was recorded and is expected to be shown on the MAVTV network.

Other feature winners were Matt Erickson (100-lap LoanMart Late Model Open), Jeremy Wood (35-lap Legends of the Pacific), Blaine Perkins (35-lap SRL S-2) and Josh Weitfield (50-lap Open Hobby Stocks).
