A 28-year-old man was caught in the midst of a burglary at the Madera Unified School District maintenance yard early Sunday morning, Madera police reported.

Officers were alerted by a burglary alarm and spotted Steven Todd inside the maintenance yard throwing tools and copper wire spools that he stole from maintenance trucks, police said. When Todd saw officers, he tried to run but was quickly stopped.

Todd was arrested on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools and resisting an officer, police said.
