Fire caused $150,000 damage to a home in Reedley Sunday afternoon and displaced five people, fire officials reported.
The fire began about 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Evening Glow Avenue, right behind a senior living facility, said Reedley Fire Chief Jerry Isaak. When firefighters arrived, flames had consumed the rear of the house and many items in the backyard, including a covered patio.
Neighboring homes to the east and west were threatened, but neighbors were hosing the fire from their yards to protect their houses, Isaak said. There was some damage to a few older vehicles.
The residents were not home when the fire began, Isaak said. There were no injuries.
Five people were displaced, and the American Red Cross and the Reedley Fire Auxiliary were helping residents find shelter and basic necessities.
The cause of the fire is still unknown though the fire is believed to have started outside, Isaak said.
