The Fresno BeeJune 29, 2014

The Fresno County Coroner identified a woman killed in a rollover crash Saturday on Interstate 5 in western Fresno County as Ana Blas, 73, of San Diego.

Blas was a passenger in a 1999 Pontiac minivan that was heading north on I-5 near Russell Avenue, west of Mendota and south of Los Banos, at about 11:20 a.m. Saturday. The California Highway Patrol said the van, driven by a 16-year-old boy, veered into the gravel dividing median between the northbound and southbound lanes. The teenager over-corrected and the van overturned in the northbound lanes.

The woman who died was thrown from the minivan when it overturned. Two other passengers suffered major injuries and three people, including the driver, received minor injuries, the CHP reported.
