Coalinga police arrest 16 in warrant sweep

The Fresno BeeJune 29, 2014

Coalinga police arrested 16 people, including one juvenile, in a warrant sweep Saturday in the southwestern Fresno County city.

The men and women arrested ranged in age from 17 to 46, and were wanted on a variety of warrants for offenses including narcotics possession or sales, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, burglary, theft, arson, weapons charges and traffic offenses.

Coalinga police reported that some of the people will face new charges of resisting arrest or providing false identification to a police officer to avoid capture, in addition to the existing arrest warrants.

Most of those arrested were booked into the Fresno County jail, but those whose arrests were for traffic warrants were booked at the Coalinga Police Department and released after promising to appear in court.
