Pedestrian dead after central Fresno hit-and-run crash

A 56-year-old man died late Saturday night after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Blackstone Avenue in central Fresno.

Shortly before 11 p.m., Fresno police were called to the northbound lanes of Blackstone, between McKinley Avenue and the BNSF Railway tracks, where they found the man in the middle lane of the road. Police said he had head injuries as well as injuries to his torso and appendages.

Emergency crews began CPR and took the man to Community Regional Medical Center, but he died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said.

Police said they do not have any description of the hit-and-run vehicle, and are seeking the public's help to find a suspect. Anyone with information on a suspect or the vehicle can call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 (498-STOP). Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
