The Ace Hardware store in Coalinga reopened at noon Saturday after a fire Wednesday.

Only the back area of the store remained closed, said cashier David Mireles.

The fire Wednesday afternoon caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, according to Coalinga Fire. Firefighters were able to control the blaze, resulting in $500,000 in savings, the agency said.

When Coalinga Fire arrived at the store about 3:50 p.m., the fire had spread to a storage area and was beginning to spread to the interior. Firefighters from Fresno County and Cal Fire, Pleasant Valley State Prison and Kings County Fire also helped fight the fire under a mutual aid agreement.
