Visalia police arrest man on gun, drugs charges

Visalia police arrested a man for possession of a loaded, stolen gun and narcotics Saturday morning.

Police officers said they were called about 1:30 a.m. to an area near Willis Street and Prospect Avenue about a man with a gun. Officers found a 31-year-old man at Sweet Avenue and Encina Street who had a shotgun.

The man threw the gun into a yard and ran, the police said, but was quickly arrested. No one was injured, they said.

The man had a small amount of what was suspected to be methamphetamine in his possession, the police said.The shotgun that was retrieved was stolen.
