Fresno police arrested nine drivers on suspicion of driving while under the influence at a DUI checkpoint Friday night in southwest Fresno.

In addition, officers impounded 18 vehicles at the checkpoint at Belmont Avenue and Clark Street. The cars were impounded because the drivers did not have valid driver's licenses or were arrested on suspicion of DUI, the police department said.
