Reasons for poor postal service

FresnoJune 26, 2014

Recently, there was a letter on the poor service at the Tower District Post Office. Most of the public is unaware that the postal service has reduced clerk and carrier positions by more than 30%, while the number of bosses has been virtually unchanged.

The local postmaster has continued to cut positions of workers who collect and deliver mail. Under her "leadership" mail service seems to have taken a sharp decline.

I am a recent retiree from the post office. As much as I enjoyed the job, this postmaster was by far the worst boss I've had in my life. This includes other previous work in public and private sectors. Retirement-eligible workers are leaving in droves and many qualified bosses have transferred from Fresno to escape.

Don't look for service to get better any time soon.
