I must respond to Jennifer Graham's divorce court opinion in The Bee on June 20. Everybody today realizes divorce and marriage are no more blessed than Mary's and Joseph's was. If marriage is such a brunt of American jokes, yet supposedly a sacred institution created by some God thing, then why is it so difficult, and in today's world, so easy to abandon like a baby with the bath water?
Well, that's easy to answer. Our nation is blessed with cowards. Cowards who describe mother's children who died in our World Wars as brave, soldiers that ultimately sacrificed their own lives for our freedom, our freedom to what? Be cowards and divorce.
I have yet to interview any parent that would sacrifice their child before themselves; every parent would take a bullet for their son or daughter (disregard the silly just the opposite Christian son sacrifice myth).
So cowards of divorce, check your selfishness at the door of bravery, and maybe just once think about somebody other than your selfish self, and spousal worries of "we've grown apart." The grass is never greener on the other side, and if you can conserve because of drought, conserve because of love.
