The Bee is producing a keepsake book about Fresno's early history, and you can be part of it.

The hard-bound book will consist of 144 pages and will be called "Fresno Memories -- The Early Years." It will showcase photos from the Fresno area from the late 1800s to 1939.

Readers can submit photos for inclusion during a public photo-scanning event. It will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the downtown Fresno County Central Library, 2420 Mariposa St. in Fresno. Go to the Heritage Center on the second floor.

The book is being produced by The Pediment Group, which is working with the Fresno Historical Society, Fresno County Public Library and the Clovis-Big Dry Creek Historical Society and Museum.

Photo submissions should be of general interest, showing such things as commerce, industry, transportation, rural life and public service.

Books can be pre-ordered online at The pre-order cost is $29.95, which is $10 off the usual price. First orders will ship Dec. 5.
