Clovis car dealer without its landmark American flag

The Fresno BeeJune 26, 2014

With the 4th of July holiday weekend quickly approaching, there is one sight that has been noticeably absent in Clovis: an American flag. But not just any flag -- the 25-foot-by-15-foot Old Glory normally waving over Hedrick's Chevrolet.

The dealer, at Highway 168 and Shaw Avenue in Clovis, had to take down its landmark flag to repair the flagpole, which is also a cell phone tower.

Hedrick's manager Casey Clinger said the dealership has two flags, and that they have to change out the flag every couple of months anyway for repairs to the red, white and blue.

"It just gets shredded from the wind," said Clinger.

Parts for the cell tower fix have already been ordered and Clinger said repairs were supposed to be done already, but are running behind schedule.

Clinger is unsure when the work will be completed, but hopes to have the flag up before the holiday weekend.
