Steve Pellegrine of Sunnyside Country Club ties for 36th at PGA Professional National Championship

Steve Pellegrine of Sunnyside Country Club shot his best round at the PGA Professional National Championship on Wednesday, a 1-under 71 to finish tied for 36th at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Pellegrine shot a four-round 73-73-79-71--296 to finish 10 strokes behind winner Michael Block, who won the event with a 3-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff with Jamie Broce, the coach at the University of Toledo.

"It's amazing to be sitting here as a national champion," said Block, the 38-year-old pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo.

Block will lead 20 qualifiers into the PGA Championship on Aug. 7-10 at Valhalla in Louisville, Ky.
