A gas line rupture in Orosi prompted authorities to evacuate nearby businesses, the Tulare County Fire Department said Tuesday.

A Southern California Gas Co. crew was working on a high-pressure gas line about 10 a.m. Tuesday when the break occurred, Battalion Chief Jonathon Kutka said.

Several people were asked to leave the area, and were allowed to return about 1 p.m., he said.

The break occurred on Avenue 416 at the intersection of Road 126. No injuries occurred, the fire department said.

A 3/4-inch "T" was damaged during maintenance work, Southern California Gas Co. spokesman Javier Mendoza said.
