Former Bullard golf star Nick Sorensen wins in Vallejo

June 23, 2014

Former Bullard High standout Nick Sorensen captured the Vallejo City Championship last weekend, shooting a 1-under 139 to win by two strokes at the Blue Rock Springs Golf Club.

Sorensen trailed by two strokes after shooting a 69 in the first round. But his consistency paid off as he shot an even-par 70 in the second round to hold off Asish Chandra, who shot a 71-70—141. Sorensen, 20, recorded three birdies to offset his three bogeys Sunday.

Sorensen, who had been playing for Reedley College, was competing in the Vallejo championship as a tuneup for the Monterey City Amateur during the Fourth of July weekend.
