Teen tries to run down store workers in Visalia shoplifting incident

Two teenage boys were booked on assault with a deadly weapon charges Sunday after a shoplifting incident escalated at the Target department store in north Visalia, police reported.

Officers were sent to the store on Dinuba Boulevard at Riggin Avenue about 1 p.m., where store workers tried to detain one of the boys after electronic equipment was stolen. The youth resisted and an accomplice tried to hit the employees with his car when he fled.

Police were able to identify the two, ages 15 and 17, and take them into custody. They were taken to juvenile hall.
