One man was hospitalized Sunday night for injuries he received in a drive-by shooting in central Fresno, police reported.

Police received a call about 10 p.m. Sunday regarding a shooting victim at Del Mar and Shields avenues, said Fresno police Lt. Phil Cooley.

The victim said a silver car drove by, and a passenger yelled something out the window before firing three or four shots. The victim was hit in his lower body, but the injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police did not know Sunday night if the shooting was gang-related and are still trying to identify the suspect car and its occupants, Cooley said.

No other information was immediately available.
