The Golden State Warriors reached an agreement in principle with former Fresno State coach Ron Adams to become an assistant coach Sunday after he spent this past season in a similar role with the Boston Celtics.

"They have a lot of promising players," Adams said of the Warriors in an interview with the Boston Herald. "For me it's a chance to work with some very good young players."

Adams was previously an NBA assistant coach for Chicago (2004-07, 2010-13), Oklahoma City (2008-10), Milwaukee (1998-2003), San Antonio (1992-94) and Philadelphia (1994-96).

Adams became the second veteran coach to reach agreement on joining Steve Kerr's staff and bring head coaching experience. Adams coached his alma mater Fresno Pacific in 1972 and Fresno State from 1986-90.
