Fresno swimmer Cheyenne Coffman established another personal best in her post-collegiate career — and did it again on a prime national stage.
Coffman won the women's 50-meter freestyle race Saturday at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara, finishing in 25.12 seconds.
An All-American when she swam for Fresno Pacific, Coffman's previous best of 25.16 was at the Grand Prix stop in April in Mesa, Ariz., competing then in a field filled with Olympians.
Coffman, who graduated from Fresno Pacific in 2012 and now is a volunteer assistant at Fresno State, is vying for a spot on the U.S. team for the 2015 Pan American Games.
Coffman, also a Sierra High alum, was a semifinalist at the 2012 Olympic Trials, placing 10th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.94.
Madison Kennedy was second to Coffman on Saturday at 25.23, and Carmel's Amy Bilquist third in 25.32.
